"Margarita Wave" Shop by Design

My piece “Margarita Wave” was heavily influenced by Jimmy Buffett’s music. I’d had the sketch since 2016 but hadn’t done much with the color until I decided to finish it last year. While I was working on adding the color, Jimmy passed away. I added a silhouette as a tribute to him in the background (it’s not on the original sketch), and the last thing I did on this piece was to put some bubbles around it too - to me, the bubbles represent the spirit of special people I have lost, moving up to a higher place. A couple of months later, someone told me about the posthumous release of Jimmy’s song “Bubbles Up”. It was such an incredible coincidence and it gave me chills to think about it.

Jimmy Buffet may not be here on this earth any longer, but his music, joy, and legacy will live on forever. Cheers, Jimmy!
